About

The Toronto Chinese Folk Art Centre (TCFC) was founded in 1998, and formally registered in 2014. Since 2006, TCFC has hosted Chinese New Year Performances annually. Spring Festival is the most solemn traditional festival for the Asian community, especially for Chinese people. By celebrating Chinese New Year, people summarize the achievements of the past year and look forward to the future. Throughout the New Year Celebration event, seniors also have an opportunity to interact with the rest of the community, reducing social isolation.

In 2020, the pandemic has had a huge impact on ways of social interaction mainly reducing social gatherings. For the 2021 Chinese New Year Performance, TCFC used Youtube to live broadcast give talented Chinese artists, especially senior and youth artists, an opportunity to perform for their community.
